Hardware Version: V4
Firmware Version: 1.0.0 0.9.1 v00a1.0 Build 191204 Rel.69554n

I have tried plugging in a 4gb generic usb drive, a 1tb western digital drive and a 5tb seagate drive into the back of the router and the usb light on the front doesn't light up for any of them and I have no idea why.

Update:

Hi All,

Ever since TD-W9970 V4, the USB port is no longer supported USB file sharing and mainly used for 

• As a backup solution for internet access

Under Advanced>Network>3G/4G settings

• As the only way to access the internet(3G/4G router mode)

 

But for V1/2/3, The USB port is still capable for USB sharing(Storage sharing/FTP server/Media server). The support of printer server might vary in versions.

And V3 does not support printer server.

 I am also having same problem. tried with multiple usb's. but still not able to detect. and also on router management site usb settings is missing too

@Jamieguk  plz make new soft for v4 this software not support usb storage  and usb prienter. Plz plz plz we are neaded this feature  not only internet
