Hi all.

I have a network configuration that starts with a Virgin Media Hub Router Modem which then connects to a TP-Link Archer A5 Access Point (static IP & no DHCP). This TP-Link works fine for wired and wireless connections, and I previously had an Edimax Access Point connected which then had 4 more wired devices all working fine. I now need more ports, so have replaced the Edimax with a TP-Link 8-Port Switch, but this is not working.

Any ideas? Should this just work, or do switches not work with Access Points?

Thanks,

Dan

@Dan85

Hello, please verify your network topology, is it like below?

Virgin Media Hub Router Modem--Archer A5 (AP mode)--TP-Link 8-Port Switch (what's the model number?)

What is the IP address you can get when connecting a computer to the TP-Link 8-Port Switch?

Is it possible to connect the TP-Link 8-Port Switch to the Virgin Media Hub directly?

@Solla-topee

Hi, yes, that is the correct topology. The switch is TL-SF1008D V10(UK).

I will check the IP address later when I am onsite.

I could (with a second switch) bypass the AP like this:

Virgin Media Hub Router Modem

--TP-Link 8-Port Switch --Archer A5 (AP mode)

                                       --TP-Link 8-Port Switch
