Model: Deco M5
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

Hi guys,

I'm new to Deco M5, need some helps to set up my smart devices to.

So I have a few smart plugs and lights that can only work with 2.4ghz wifi, when I set them up, my phone must be connect to 2.4 ghz wifi too, it wasn't a issue before as I used to use a basic router.

So my question is since Deco gives only one SSID for both 2.4 and 5ghz wifi, how do I sepereate them and set up my smart devices again.

Huge thanks in advanceyes

@wsqwin1005

Hello,

Sorry that it is currently not allowed to create different wireless networks between 2.4G and 5G on the Deco app.

If your smart device setup requires your phone to connect 2.4G as well, it is suggested to disable the 5G temporarily and set up the smart devices first. You can enable it after finishing to add the smart devices.

Changing the Wireless Settings on your Deco app

May this help.

@wsqwin1005 Set up the guest network and connect them to this (that way they are isolated from the rest of your network) . Then only enable the 2.4Ghz on the guest network.

Other way is to turn off the 5Ghz just whilst you join them to the network. Once theyre joined if I renable the 5GHz mine remain happily connected even after a router reboot.
