Model: Archer AX6000
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version:

I have just bought an Archer AX6000 and think I have just had a lesson in the difference between a router and a modem.   I cannot plug the RJ11 telephone line into the router in order to get the internet ( here in Australia the internet comes via copper telephone wires!!!).

Does this mean that what I have bought is ONLY a router and does not have modem ability?

I see in the quick start instructions that I can connect a modem into the WAN port on the new router. This seems to me to mean that I have to keep using the rubbish modem/router that I am trying to replace?

Technology had left this young/ old man behind.....

@Glen2596

Hello, sorry to hear that.

This AX6000 is only a wireless router and it must work with a modem. It seems what you require is a modem router, you may check the models in this below link:

https://www.tp-link.com/au/home-networking/dsl-modem-router/

If you cannot replace it with a DSL modem router, however, you will need to connect it to your existing old modem by an Ethernet cable.

May it help.
