Model: Archer VR600v
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 0.1.0 0.9.1 v5006.0 Build 190228 Rel.72265n

Does the Archer VR1600v do DNS Caching?

And if so:

  • How big is the cache?
  • Will it dynamically switch between primary and secondary DNS sources according to response times

@GrahamJ

Hi, for your issue, I have checked it from the senior engineers.

Sorry to inform that the router doesn't support DNS Cashing.

If you have any other issues, please feel free to contact us again.

Good day!

@GrahamJ

Thanks! I thought that was the case, so I installed a Raspberry-pi next to it using dnsmasq to do caching.

All traffic from my router goes through a gateway in another city, so this seems to improve response times, especially with sites that send solicit advertisements from other sites before doing anything useful.
