@TP-Link_Deco

Erlier TPlink said that there was no hardware changes between V1 and V2. Why is there two kind of firmware then, one to V1 and one to V2?

V1 => Deco X60(EU)_V1_1.5.0_210121

V2=> Deco X60(EU)_V2_1.5.1_20210204

@Sematwir

I agree. For a short while mine sat at the same revision, since the last updates now they are not = there must be some differences!

I want to post my similar predicament with the Deco X20: https://community.tp-link.com/us/home/forum/topic/270448?page=1 The lack of information about the differences in the hardware and/or firmware features, and the lack of features is stunning.

I agree I have also asked TP-Link what differences between v1 and v2 and got the same basic answer that there isn't any. So why is there 2 different versions? TP-Link really needs to be more transparent.

@mdr1970

v2 uses homeshield. Which has a free and paid option. Free option has limited featres

@SSTaLoN

Hi, For Deco X60 V3 and above versions, they use HomeShield.

For V1 and V2, they are still on the HomeCare.

I noticed your version is also V2, So I think you might still use HomeCare?

Thank you very much.

Confirmed. I just received a Deco X60 V2 from Amazon, and it came with HomeCare. Phew!!! I would've returned it if it came with HomeShield. Who wants to subscribe to a paid service after shelling out a ton of money for a router???? Terrible decision TP-Link.

@Sematwir So I have 3xv2 and 2xv3. 5 all together. I only need 3.

Which two should I return? And which 3 should I keep.

- 3xv2

- 1xv2 and 2xv3

Or do I make the decision on using Homecare or Homeshield?

@UtoPiet

Hi, welcome to the community.
they are both nice home security systems and have their pros and cons.
Maybe you could share us more details about your needs so that other users could provide some references.

@UtoPiet

I'm confused about the versions you say you have.

I have 3 X60's = x1 V2 which has 1.5.1 FW & 2 V1's which have 1.5.0 FW

ALL operate under the V2 router with utilizes Homecare

Homecare is 100% free and requires no input from me.

I had/tried 2 X90's briefly (Just because I like upgrading my tech and was thinking I could move down to 2 nodes) when they first came out, but one was faulty, so sent them both back, because I still needed 3 for best coverage.

Other than Homeshield which added a few features I then had to pay for, they didn't add anything to my network that would make them worth the huge price increase!

I have Ethernet backhaul, so being tri-band is unimportant to me.
