Archer C6 - how to block internet access for an IP address range?
Hi All,
I've been using TL-WR1043ND (unfortunately it has gone to "The Land of Eternal Bits" ;D) and on this device I had a part of configuration that devices with IP address from range 192.168.1.45 - 192.168.1.50 weren't allowed to connect to the internet. Access to other devices was allowed, but not to the internet. The rule was defined only by IP addresses, MAC addresses weren't used.
And I don't know - maybe it's Sunday and that's the reason I cannot find such thing in Archer C6 setup. Anyone has an idea? Assumptions:
- IP address range: 192.168.1.45 - 192.168.1.50
- without using MAC address
- access to other devices within 192.168.1.xxx address range - allowed for devices, that have IP from 192.168.1.45 - 192.168.1.50
- internet access for devices with IP from range 192.168.1.45 - 192.168.1.50 - denied

Hello,
That's correct. The Access Control settings on the C6 router is different from the old WR1043N and it requires to enter both the IP address and MAC address of the devices. Below is the instructions you may refer to:

Thanks.

Hello,
Thanks for answer. Too bad, that it's not cool. Really not cool. I had this five IP addresses reserved for my friend's PCs. When I suspected, that they may have „an uninvited friend” it was convenient to access to them by RDP or VNC and check using one set of keyboard and mouse, and at the same time be sure, that they won't be accessible from internet.
Well. Things change, not necessarily for the better.
Thanks.

Sorry about that and thanks for your understanding. We will also feedback to the related department and ask them to evaluate to improve the features on the router software in the future.
Good day.

Are you telling me there's a chance, that in newer version of firmware such option (block internet access to specified IP address range) would be implemented again? That would be great. And I'll buy you guys a case of beer if you make it real. :)

Hi, sorry that I cannot guarantee that this will be added, as we can only feedback to the developers and they will need to evaluate the feasibility and necessity.
Hope you could understand it.
