Model: Archer C20
Hardware Version: V5
Firmware Version: 0.9.1 4.17 v0001.0 Build 200526 Rel.70733n(5553)

I am 100% sure that the username and the password are correct. I have tried changing the cloning the MAC address to the computer I connected it to, but I still get this error. 2 days ago, after trying for an hour it connected finally, but I had to reboot the router today and it started showing the error again.

Here is the system log :

@soitchu

Hello, do you mean you have internet access when you plug the modem directly to your PC and dial-up?

When did you purchase this C20? Try to test the line with another router if possible.

Who is your ISP? If you confirmed the username and password are correct and there are no limitations on the ISP side, but still cannot build the PPPoE connection successfully, try to reset the C20 one more time to its factory defaults and dial-up again.

Thanks.

I am facing the same issue, PPPoE connection works fine on my PC but fails on my router. Even log shows exactly same entries that you have you mentioned. Have you got this issue fixed?

@Sujil_C

Yes, kind of. I am not sure how these protocols work exaclty, but authenticating it on my PC first and then quickly disconnecting the wire from the PC and connecting it to the router worked for me most of the times. This seems pretty janky though. Also, the issue went away overtime and I don't need to do that anymore. What's your ISP?

Also check with your ISP and see if you can get a MAC address that's binded to your account. It didn't really matter in my case, but do it just to cover all bases.

Thanks for the response. I tried the same trick of authenticating from PC, but not worked. I will check with my ISP whether they can bind the router mac id.
