Model: Archer A6
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: Archer A6(US)_V2_191112

There a hidden network for OneMesh which cannot be turned off, this hidden network is interfering with bluetooth audio devices during phone calls which makes BT devices totally unusable

Observations

  • BT audio is working properly only when router is switched off, other routers are not causing this issue.
  • I turned off the WIFI(both 2.4 & 5GHz) still interferience is there, since Hidden network is enabled
  • When i downgraded the firmware to older version(Archer A6(US)_V2_190712 which does not have OneMesh), solved the issue for me
  • When I upgraded the firmware to the latest firmware(Archer A6(US)_V2_191112 which has OneMesh), this issue is back again.

Form the above observations I concluded that OneMesh hidden network is the culprit.

Currenly there is no option to turn off that Hidden Network, So please enable an option to turn off OneMesh in next update.

If there is a beta firmware with this feature, kindly the link.

Note: Since the older firmware doesnot have some features like "Smart Connect", so kindly share a firmware with "Smart Connect"  and no OneMesh, if a firmware like that is available.

Someone Please Help

@Sanghamithran

Hello, thanks for reporting this issue to the community.

The hidden wireless network is used to build up the mesh wireless network system, which we call it Onemesh, it is just as what you've observed.

If you don't want to have the hidden SSID, the current workaround is downgrading to the previous firmware which doesn't support Onemesh.

The good news is that we already have the plan to add an Onemesh on/off switch on the firmware, which will allow you to turn it off manually. This will take some time, however, we hope you could wait patiently.

Good day.

@Kevin_Z The same problem for the C6 model. Will we have the ability to disable OneMesh on this model as well?

@juliocesar757

Yes, we will release new firmware in the near future to add the option to turn on/off the Onemesh, please keep an eye on the official website, thanks.

@juliocesar757 better return your Archer C6 if it's new, it's been 8 months since the last firmware update for both A6 & C6.

Eventhough @Kevin_Z confirmed an update, still they can't still give an estimated date for the firmware update, it's taking ages to get a firmware update it seems.

Better stay away from other TP Link routers also since they all have this hidden OneMesh network.

I'm still wondering how TP Link engineers came up with putting this option turned on in this most conjusted 2.4 GHz frequency, imagine every TP Link routers are emitting this unused signal in an apartment building, the engineers must be either ignorant or incompetent.

Seems like they only have a "plan" they not even started the implementation phase, by the time you get a firmware update, your 3 years warranty must have expired 😂

hello TP LInk, Experts.

Question to you: Is the switch to turn off the One Mesh available on A6 and C6 firmwares or not?

  1. if so, what should a TP link customer do?
  2. Which firmware to upgrade?
  3. Which model or make version of A6 and which model or make version of C6 has the firmware with the option to switch off One mesh or version that does NOT interfere with bluetooth devices?

This One Mesh interfering with bluetooth is the reason for me to hesitate to buy TP link Routers for home use where even Bluetooth devices are prevalent.
