Model: Archer A2300
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version:

I struggle with my 2 AC2300's.

I get one configured as router and the other as AP. That part works well as the wired part of the network is doing fine.

But can not get wifi to work at all, I only want the AP wifi to operate as my house has wooden floors and will serve the whole house from the middle level.

But whatever channel selection i make, or auto, it is very time consuming and hard to get connected and once connected on most devices it will not really transmit data.

Does any1 have an idea of where to go as i am stuck at this stage.

Hello,

Please confirm the below details and we will try to help you out:

1. Is the network connection in this way? When a computer connects to the 1st A2300 with an Ethernet cable, is the internet working fine?

Main modem---A2300 (Router mode, both 2.4GHz and 5GHz wifi are disabled)---2nd A2300 (AP mode, broadcasting both 2.4GHz and 5GHz wifi)

2. Refer to the below instructions to reconfigure the 2nd A2300 into AP mode:

https://www.tp-link.com/en/support/faq/1384/  (Case 2)

May it help.

@Kevin_Z

kevin,

i had my modem in bridge mode. connected AC2300 in router mode. wired devices to this router work fine. then wired from this router to the WAN port of the 2nd AC2300, set up as AP. all wired connections from this one also work fine.

I had wireless set up from the AP and both from AP and router, but was very instable. tried all different channels and used a channel analyser for this.

But still instable. some devices wanted to connect, others not.

than put the modem of the provider back in router mode and connected one AC2300 in AP mode. now works fine again. although still not happy with providers router, i still look for the intended solution.
