Model: Deco S4
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

Hi - Have a Deco S4 mesh linked to a Virgin Hub3 (@200Mb) and are using all 4 LAN ports on Hub 3 currently for SkyQ/TV etc. and have 2 options for setup namely:

1) Hub3 in modem mode, S4 in router mode to do DHCP, connect SkyQ etc via 1GB network switch to second wired port on S4 main router

2) Hub3 WIFI off, DHCP by Hub3, S4 in Access Point mode, keep SkyQ etc wired into Hub3

Appreciate I will loose a couple of features like QoS with option 2, but which is likely to be best from a perfomance perspective and why?

Thoughts appreciated.

Hello,

If you don't want to lose all the features on the Deco network, it is suggested to configure the main Deco as a router (change your virgin hub 3 to a modem only mode) and connect the SkyQ/TV, etc to the Deco network via a switch, which is also more convenient to access all the local resources in the same LAN.

However, if you want to have all the features on your virgin hub 3 and you want to configure it as the DHCP gateway, it is OK to change the Deco into AP mode.

Good days.
