Model: Deco M4

Firmware Version:

Hello,

I've been using Tp Link TL-WR840N for a very long time and I wanted to upgrade my router and want to buy TP Link Deco M4.

My question is, since Deco M4 has 2 ports, Is it possible to connect my ethernet line to port 1 as wan port and and use the 2nd one as lan port to directly connect to my Desktop? So far, all the tutorial shows that I have to connect my Deco to an existing router but there is no information regarding using Deco as main device.

Thanks In advance.

Hello,

Yes, you may connect the main Deco M4 to your existing modem to replace the WR840N and set it up as a Router, once the setup finished and the internet is on, then connect a wired device to the other LAN port to access the internet.

Below is the guide to install the main Deco:

May it help.
