Model: Deco M5
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.4.7

My Deco M5 often gives the wrong machine names on the parental control:

I have a device is called XPS (windows 10). It was correctly display in the parental control.

My son used it, so I added it to my son's profile in order that I can monitored his internet usuage.

But it will be given another machine name which is an offline device.

Then this device disappear from my son's profile become the name is different now.

I tried to ping this device with this command:   ping -a [ip address]

It gives the correct machine name XPS.

These issues often happen and happen on all kind of device, so it totally screwed the parental control.

Could you please fix this issue? It is very important for me.

Thanks!

Sincerely

Justin

@Justin.Wu

Hi Justin,

Can you please confirm where did you set those device names for the LAN devices, on the Deco app-device settings page? We take the XPS for an example, is there any specific operation or behavior when it changes to an unknown name, such as it powers off and restarts? Please confirm if the MAC address of this XPS has ever changed when the name changes.

Thanks.
