Hardware Version: V1

Hi,

I'm just wondering if it is possible to do bandwidth control instead of QoS, because with bandwidth control I can individually set a fixed bandwidth rate to each devices that are connected to my router.

I don't like the concept of QoS, as it is dynamically set the rate of the bandwidth automatically, and no ability to set a fixed upload and download rate of my each devices.

Or if it is not possible to do, is there any workaround that I can do to replicate the function of bandwidth control on my router?

Thank you for helping me!

Hello,

The Archer C80 supports QoS only, and it no longer supports set certain bandwidth for a specific device.

Below is the instruction to configure the QoS setting (there might be a slight difference from your web UI), you may try to give the specific device with high priority:

I like the Bandwidth control better than just having the QoS in the router. I currently own a c50 and c80 router. At first, I was happy with c50 and how it manages my home network except for the fact that it limits my bandwidth from my ISP to 100mbps. So I decided to get a C80. Unfortunately, for the Bandwidth Control, I am unable to configure it the way I have my c50. I hope you can release a firmware upgrade for c80 that includes the Bandwidth control feature.

@Solience

I came across this thread because it is just what I am looking for.

Given that the Archer C80 does not provide bandwidth control. Can you please suggest the nearest model that does provide such capabilities?

Thanks.

I hope that the problem of Qos that is not applied as a bandwidth limiter like previous models (archer c7) can be solved, currently I have problems with the peaks in the ping, something that did not happen to me with the archert C7 that also does not count With bandwidth limiter but the Qos worked for me in a similar way to limit the bandwidth of my network and have a better management, I hope for a prompt solution in firmware updates or if anyone knows of another momentary solution I would like to hear it.

@Kevin_Z

Hello please tell me how to enable bandwith control. I have bought this router but unable to make it work. I use remote access for office products but once someone on my network starts downloading or streaming my connections gets very slow and unresponsive.

@Kelko

As replied earlier on #2, the C80 doesn't support bandwidth control, it only supports QoS.

It has been one year, why no firmware update to implement this feature. Chip lacking this function to save one euro?. I guess I have to return the C80 + 2x C6 as AP and return to ASUS. Thank you for your response.

Yeah, they don't seem to care, it doesn't even work as QoS.
