Client aliases leak away, VR400
Hi
Model number drop down box only did the "A" series of Archers so I picked the nearest. Actual model number is Archer VR400 v2 running latest firmware
I have many tens of smart devices attached to this, a dozen via via the WiFi directly and the rest fed from linked multi-port switches to one of the LAN ports on the VR400. They are all on the same sub-node (192.168.1; the majority are DHCP, some are fixed IP (outside the DHCP range) - and a small number are allocated defined IP using DHCP by the VR400. With so many Mac addresses I have renamed all the devices, ostensibly successfully, using the browser interface. However, a few (perhaps 6) of these renamed devices regularly revert to, variously, "unknown" and the original generic name of the device from which I renamed in the first place. Sometimes the names will stick for only a few minutes, other times a day or more.
This memory loss/overwrite doesn't seem to have any knock-on effect, but it is frustrating when I scroll through the list of connected devices and note these drop-outs.
It did this on the supplied firmware; despite "check for updates" suggesting it was latest firmware, a later one was found on https://www.tp-link.com/uk/support/download/archer-vr400/v2/#Firmware - which was duly installed. However, the problem remains.
Anyone else had this? Is it a known bug? Are there any latent consequences I should be aware of?
