Model: Deco P9
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version:

Update to Android app now has a WiFi Detective (found at bottom of burger menu) which is to Discover all devices connected to the current Wi-Fi network and identify potential risks.

Doesn't seem to provide much info though. Anyone else tried this and noticed anything useful?

Hi, thank you for the screenshot. I got it. This Wi-Fi Detective is a new feature on the latest Deco app, which will allow you to scan the devices that connected to the Deco network.

@TP-Link_Deco When i run Wifi detective it shows the devices connected to my network. One of these is displayed with its IP address and described as an "iphone". I know that the device at this IP address is most definitely not an "iphone" but a "sonos play 1". A known bug?

@TP-Link_Deco MAC address fields are all blank and device names are a useless string of alphanumeric characters.  Have a device saying it's on a 169.xxx.xxx.xxx IP address bit because the other details are lacking I'm unable to identify it.

@KB6

Hello, thanks for the feedback.

Can I have a screenshot of the client lists after enabling the WiFi Detective and showing your "sonos play 1" as an "iphone"? Please also tell me the MAC address of the "sonos play 1", thanks.

Hi, thanks for replying.

Can I also have the screenshot of the client lists which shows abnormal IP address?

After scanning and the result shown one wifi extender and 2 smart plugs were connected to my network.

I did not setup a wifi extender and none was plug in, and I only have one Smart plug.

What is the purpose of this tool in the app when I can't do anything on the list of result to remove the ghost or illegal devices connected to my network?

@Lenz

Hello, we are sorry for any confusion caused by the new features on the latest Deco app.

Do you mean there is only one smart plug in your network? Are there any other smart devices like smart switch or light? What I guess is that the Wi-Fi detective may scan some other smart devices in your network but show it as a smart plug.

We will soon check and investigate this issue and update here, thanks a lot~

I have 15 or so devices connected to my Deco network, including 2 M9 Plus mesh routers. When I run Wi-Fi detective, it reports that I have 4 devices on my network, one of which is reported twice. It's difficult to know where to start with all the questions this raises. Is there any documentation of Wi-Fi Detective that might help me understand what it is and isn't doing?
