Hello all,

So i bought a TD-W8970 hardware revision v1.2 as part of a larger joblot.

I have seen it working earlier but they did something with firmware that went wrong an now it is bricked.(that said something about openwrt)  I followed all the guides i could find from tplink and other but so far with no succes. The only light the device now shows is the power light.

Is there any trick to make this device work again or do i have to consider it e-waste? 

 

What i so far tried is giving it a static ip in the 192.168.0 range going to the web browser at 192,168.0.1 and wait for the router to request a file using an tftp server. both did'nt gave any response at all.

Hi,

May I know how long have you had the modem?

Have you tried to hold the reset pinhole/ button for 10s to do a factory reset?

 

If nothing happened, I am afraid that this device might be defective and needs to be replaced.

I had it for a few weeks, i know there has been played/tampered with i just trying to find out if there is a way to save it from being ewaste.

Got it back to life again, key was getting an pl2303hx usb to serial adapter, so i could enter commands in the bootloader(uboot) and re-install the firmware.
