Hi All,

 

I'm currently using Hyperbackup on a Synology NAS at my work to connect to my home ip address and backup to a Synology NAS at home.

It uses a TP-LINK VR2800 to port forward port 6281 directly to the NAS on my home network.

It works great (my home is only 1.6kms away), but for security reasons, is it possible to setup in the VR2800 so only the IP address for my work is capable of using the port forward 6281 to get to my NAS?

 

I've looked at all the settings in the modem, but I can not figure out if it can be done.

Good day,

Thank you very much for your time and patience.

Did you want to achieve that only the work IP could access to the NAS via port 6281, other internet IPs' access would be banned by the router?

If yes, the router VR2800 does not support that yet.

If you do not mind, please try to set up the VPN connection, such as OpenVPN  or IPsec VPN on the 2800 to have a try;

Hi, thanks for the response, yes you are correct that is what I was hoping to achieve.

I have tried the open VPN connection (for a different reason) that seemed to work quite well.

Can I use openvpn to connect the two Synologys with Hyperbackup?
