AX11000 losing connection on iPads/iPhones
AX11000 losing connection on iPads/iPhones
I have just set up a new Archer AX11000 and my ipad and iPhone seem to be losing connection intermittently and I am having to reconnect. This is very frustrating
The router has the latest firmware on it and the iPad/iPhone has the latest IOS
can someone please advise on what I can do?
thanks

My settings are the default one, with smart connect on.
I didn't try with apple products, only with Samsung galaxy S10 Plus (is the only device that I have and support WPA3).
The problem is:
1. I connect the phone to router and everything is working fine at that point
2. I move around the house (and at some point the router need to switch band because of smart connect) and at that point internet on phone is stop working. On wireless icon it shows that the phone are connected but Internet not working.
3. After a few minutes, it comutes automatically on 4G connection and on Wireless it shows connected with No Internet Access, and sometimes I received Authentication Failed.
4. I turn off the WiFi on the phone and turn on and Internet start to work, until I move around again.
If I remain on the same band, I didn't observe any freeze.
I think the problem is with Authentication when Smart connect swap bands.
I didn't try to disable SmartConnect, because I want to use this functionality so, I disabled WPA3 and everything is working fine on WPA2.
With WPA2 and same settings I don't have any issues.
Thank you

Thank you very much for the detailed issue description, we appreciate it.
As you know, the WPA3 is the next generation of Wi-Fi security of WPA2, it's new, and it is not widely implemented on all devices yet, manufacturers for both routers and phones may be involved in different developing stages, so you may encounter some issue. However, don't worry about this, the developers are working on it to improve and optimize the WPA3 working mechanism.

Hello,
Thank you for your answer! I know about WPA3, I'm a network administrator 😀. I know that the implementation is on early stage, and I'm sure that will be improved in the future.
One question about AX11000, that is not related to WPA3, do you know if in future firmware, we can use LAN1 port (Gigabot port) as WAN and WAN (2.5G) as LAN (like on Archer GX90) ...also Dual WAN will be nice for people that use this router in a small business environment and want to have a back up connection.
Thank you

As far as I know, there is currently not a plan to support that.

@Kevin_Z I was browsing the internet, as I too have devices losing connection to the AX11000. I read here and there to disable Smart Connect, so I just tried and what do you know? All disconnected devices came back to live, almost immediately. I don't think you can say, the matter is irrelevant.
I enabled Smart Connect, as this should result in just one SSID where devices get automatically connected to the best radio (2.4 or one of both 5.0 GHz). Disabling it, keeps the one SSID, but I don't know how the router connects devices now. Anyway, the lost connections problem looks solved.
Ps. I will add to this comment, if losing connections return.

@Howkins554 same issue here. I have 2 AX11000 and it's happening with both on my iPhone 13 pro max. All with latest firmware. Need help.
