Model: TL-WR902AC
Hardware Version: V3
Firmware Version: 191209

Hi,

A few days ago, I bought a TP-Link WR902AC v3 for use as a client mode. My ISP is wireless so I bought this router specifically to connect to my ISP. I however have a problem as this router has very few channels at 5GHz and hence cannot connect or even detect the wi-fi. Is there any possible way to add/unlock these channels I need. The firmware is the latest one and is an US version by the way. Thanks.

@Ahamay

I see, thank you for your reply.

The WR902AC US version only supports band 1 and band 4 channels, which means it can only see the channel 36~48 and 149~165, it cannot scan for the DFS channels as you mentioned.

It is suggested to confirm this with your ISP and see if they can help change your wireless channel to these ones.

Nice day~

Hello, may I have the screenshot of the 5GHz channel options on your WR902AC? Do you mean none of your 5GHz devices can connect to the router or some of them? You may try different channels first and see if you can find one that works in your network.

BTW, what are your 5GHz devices? Do they detect and connect to other 5GHz networks? It is suggested to try with a different device and confirm if it is the device's issue or the router's.

Thanks.

@Kevin_Z I can connect to a handful of channels (such as my own home wifi) but I can't connect to my ISP's channel which is 116 at 5ghz band and as I have said, it can't even detect it. My old router can connect to it just fine.

It's a firmware issue, I tried to flash the EU version of the firmware but the device won't accept it.

@Kevin_Z I flashed the EU firmware and channels are actually less than before lol. Only 36-48 are now available. Can you please give me dfs channels enabled firmware. I beg of you. 🙏

EU version only support band 1, so that's why you can only have 36-48 now. Most importantly, we DON'T suggest you flash US version device with EU firmware, as the hardware and firmware specifications are different, which will void the warranty.

Again, the WR902AC doesn't support the DFS channel, we don't have a software for you. We hope you could understand this.
