@lacam

The PA7017 will operate at slower powerline AV500/600 speeds of your slower adapters.

Unless you are already getting close to 100 Mbps over wifi from your WPA4220, I doubt you will get any further improvement by installing PA7017 wired to your gigabit router.

@abos4 All this is all very well and i understand the limitations of the powered system, BUT, how can TP-Link sell a product that actively promotes "300Mbps Wi-Fi"when you're never going to get anywhere near even 100mbps, but definitely not over 100mbps because that's all the Ethernet ports are capable of.

This is at least misleading!

I purchased this product because of the misleading highlighted in bright yellow statement, obviously designed as the selling feature.

  @abos4 I have the same opinion, they shouln't use the 300Mbps anywhere in the box, if there is no way to get that speed... I also bought the same model thinking that... Returning it tomorrow...

Perhaps this is due to a misunderstanding?

The (theoretical!) speed of 300 Mb/s given for WiFi refers to the speed that it would be more or less possible to obtain ONLY BETWEEN several computers or devices connected simultaneously to the same WiFi access point such as the one created by the WPA4220 and NOT just for a single one for its Internet connection to the router.

So understand that the "theoretical" 300 Mb/s obtainable may be so, but only for network file transfers between 2 PCs or to a NAS for example...

Perhaps you should specify that in the box more clearly and stop scamming people...

Who cares about data transfer between local devices? How many people download/upload a file from a local device compared to the actual internet...

You know most people want to be able to stream a 4K movie from whatever external server... Like Netflix, Amazon, whatever... Oh no, but the 300Mbps speed would work if the actual Netflix server where in your basement connected through your WiFi, it's silly...

If I receive 600Mbps from my fiber connection I want to be able to get as close as that with my PLC device... I don't care about intranets... Why don't you put 100Mbps in the front of the box instead of 300Mbps? Why it says 600Mbps at all? Ok, why just for clarification you don't also add 100Mbps in the front of the box so people it's more like, what is this 100Mbps thing? let's read more... Nooooooo you just put 600Mbps and 300Mbps, and then go to the back of the box and read "10/100", that probably nobody even know what that is...

  @AMCerasoli

I recently bought a TL-WPA4220 for a friend (I still have this PLC at home because I haven't had the time to install it at his place to replace his dead WiFi PLC).

At his (country) home as at mine, we don't have fiber yet, just VDSL2 at about 50 Mb/s. So a PLC limited to 100 Mb/s is not a so bad thing.

But... I just redid some tests with it and well, NO, even with just a local WiFi link between 2 PCs or between PC and smarphone, I don't get a speed higher than 42 Mb/s for files transfer between each PC or smartphone.

Conclusion: I am far from the promised 300 Mb/s!

My Internet connection is limited to VDSL2 (or to 4G LTE that I also use on my Archer 600 router), I'm not surprised to get only 45 Mb/s with this TL-WPA4220, connected to an old PLC (not from TPLink).
