Model: Archer A6
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 20200630

Hello.

I've been on a older firmware for a long time with my router. (a6 model) . So yesterday I decided to upgrade to the latest 20200630. The internet is unstable. Its never been like that . A couple of hours ago I said to give it a try to 200400 version too. Even worse. I cannot go back to an older firmware so im back to 200630. Anyone with same problem? The internet seems to be ok-ish on my pc ( lan connected) - but the wireless is annoying. ( No... it is not my ISP - the internet is working fine). Any way for the devs to see this? As I said - its the first time when I see the router being so unstable.Something needs to be fixed. I dont even hit my rated speed 1000/1000. Im hitting around 650mbps/400mbps.

@Kevin_Z Update. The guys from the internet came by and checked the connection. It was ridiculous. Over 700 disconnects in the past 4 days. The problem was the wire. Its been stable for the past 3 hours so I think its fixed. Another small problem that I have is that im still not hitting the usual speed - that being around 930mbps. On direct connection I do hit that speed again. So I'll wait maybe for a new firmware update( I hit around 700mbps down  - LAN connection) . If you have any recommandation please... My duplex is on 1000gbps and all settings are the best they can be. But my main issue with the instability is  fixed.

@JinSensei

Hello, thanks for reporting the issue to the community, can I have more details then our engineers can try to investigate further?

1. Only the 2.4GHz wireless is unstable, or 5GHz is also unstable? The wired connections are working just fine?

2. How many devices are connected to the 2.4GHz network, what are they? Are all wireless devices connected to the 2.4GHz experiencing the same dropout or just some special or old clients? When they got disconnected, is the wireless network of the Archer A6 still broadcasting or the wireless network is no longer available on all other devices as well?
If the devices are still connected to the 2.4GHz network but no internet access, please confirm if the devices can still get a correct IP address from A6, what is the IP address? Can you ping the A6 gateway and internet?
If the devices disconnected from the 2.4GHz and cannot connect back, what is the error message?

3. Try to modify the wireless settings on the Archer A6 first, such as wireless channel, channel width, which would help in some cases:
https://www.tp-link.com/support/faq/2292/

4. How did you recover the connection, do you need to reboot the A6, or disable/enable the 2.4GHz wireless on the A6, or just wait and it will reconnect automatically?

BTW, is your A6 a US version or an EU version, you may check it on its bottome label?

Thank you very much for your patience~

1) Some of my devices are on 2.4ghz, some on 5ghz. My lan connection works just fine - ( although I do not reach the usual speeds)

2) 2.4ghz - One laptop, one android phone, 2 smart tvs 5ghz - one phone, a ps4 I pinged getway in cmd - / all is good - 4 packages send - 4 recieved 0% loss. ( Today it doesnt look unstable - aside the fact I cant reach the usual speeds- I will connect again directly into PC to see if its the ISP )

3) I will try other channels - now its on auto.

4) On my mobile devices I need to turn off wifi and turn it on back and it works. On PC it was loading slowly and disconnect for 1 second - but there was no need to reboot ( Although I rebooted the router many times - no change) My version: Firmware Version: 1.3.5 Build 20200630 rel.57690 (4555) Hardware Version: Arccher A6 v2.0 - EU As I said above - today seems pretty stable . I will run more tests and contact my ISP too, to see if there's any problem from their side.

Hi @JinSensei, thanks for getting back quick.

Yes, please try to modify the wireless settings on the A6, you may also confirm the internet connectivity with your ISP and see if they can find some clue on their side.

Please let us know if there is an update, thanks.

Hi @JinSensei, thanks so much for the valued update, glad to know that the disconnect issue is fixed now.

As per the speed issue, please check and ensure the QoS setting on the A6 is disabled or on the Standard mode, then reboot it and confirm again.

BTW, how did you test the speed when connected to the A6, via the wired connection or wireless? When you perform this speedtest, please ensure there is only one computer connect to it, as the speed might be slow if others have the downloading or high traffics.

Thanks a lot.

@Kevin_Z QoS was disabled . The test was on LAN - so it shouldnt affect my wireless devices. Also my laptop hits only 500mpbs ( limited by hardware). The only one that can reach 1gbps is my computer and I dont have wireless on it. But as I said - without using the router I hit 900mbps and with the router connected via LAN only 600-650 now. I have to mention that until I did upgrade to the latest firmware 20200630 the speed was good. Then came the instability issues and decided to upgrade the firmware - and you know the rest of story.
