N 300

HI I have installed an extender N300 but the download speed is not increased. Can you help me on how to check if it is working properly? Does it create an additional wifi (extended)? I only see my previous wifi

Thanks a lot for your time and patience.
Could you please help me check the following information:
- What is the model number of the N300, like TL-WA850RE, or 855RE?
- Did the RE and signal lights lit up on the N300?
- How did you set it up, via the WPS button, Tether APP?
And for the range extender, it is not used to improve the internet speed of the main router.
It is mainly to get higher Wi-Fi signal and improve network stability;
