Model: Archer C80
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.4.7

Hi,

I've bought a new Tp Link Archer C80 for replacing and get an upgrade for my old but faithful Linksys E1000, and when trying to forward some ports i need to redirect, surprise! i have to configure ONE BY ONE,  but even worse: there is a limit in the quantity of ports you can redirect.  How in middle of 21st Century can this be??  My idea was supposed to change to a better device and i find this disappointing problem with my first time buying a device from the 'Tp-Link' brand.

Can be this solved soon with some software update???

@GeorKhawam

Hello, if you want to open some specific ports for the local devices, you will need to add them one by one on the C80. While there is UPnP on the C80, which will open the ports automatically for the applications, you may try to enable it and see if it will help.

@GeorKhawam

You can use port ranges (e.g. like 1024-1040) instead of individual ports and that would help to reduce the number of port forwarding entries.

If this was helpful click once on the arrow pointing upward. If this solves your issue, click once the star to mark it as a "Recommended Solution".

@Kevin_Z  Not all apps are compatible with UPNP, for example, the main problem is that i need to use a FTP Server, which needs a high port range to forward for working in passive mode...

This is ONLY ONE of the problems i've found in the Archer C80, other problems found in these 3 weeks using this new router are:

-Device loses time & date when is disconnecting from power or when is a power failure

-Device is unable to obtain date and hour from internet from any NTP server (tested ntp.org ;  time.windows.com ;  time.google.com ) ALL give timeout error

What a mess my first experience with TP-LINK,  Really i want my money back...

Thanks @Ivaylo for your valued suggestions.

@GeorKhawam

Sorry that the port forwarding settings on the C80 are slightly different from that on some other models, it doesn't allow to set a port range. This has been forwarded to the related department as a feature request, and this will be improved in the future firmware upgrade, but we currently cannot give you an ETA yet.

As for the device time, try to change the DNS server on the C80 to third-party's, e.g. like 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4, reboot the C80 and confirm.

@GeorKhawam

The default servers are:

time.nist.gov

time-nw.nist.gov

You can try some of the listed NTP servers:

https://tf.nist.gov/tf-cgi/servers.cgi

or

https://gist.github.com/mutin-sa/eea1c396b1e610a2da1e5550d94b0453

even by their IP address to exclude possible DNS issues.

@Ivaylo  Thanks,  but NOTHING works...

Does not work with domains,  not even inserting the direct ip's of some NTP servers,  neither a local NTP i've configured  (rest of computers take the time and data correctly, but the C80 not)...

The error is the same,  Failed getting time from NTP:  (TIMEOUT)

@GeorKhawam

Another bug found in the C80:  the remote management feature does not work

When you try to open the web interface through the ip:port, it stays saying  "opening"  forever...

This is (by now) the public ip & port for remote manage:   186.89.217.40:8888

@Ivaylo

The C80 is behind a main adsl modem-router

But I tried converting that router in 'only modem' (bridge) and problem persists, it does not load the web interface completely, then i switched back on its router function 'cause i like to manage the adsl modem by web interface (for watching adsl sync speed, remote rebooting,...)

I tried using another port (65000), and the number of port does not make a solution.. Remote management port is correctly forwarded to the C80 ip (if not, we would not see the tplink logo and the word 'loading' in the tab of the browser)...

You can see the adsl router (main) can be correctly accessed by the assigned port (8079)

The Archer C80 is a bag of bugs and malfunctions. I think i threw my money.

Hope an update can solve all these problems soon
