Deco P9 (3-pack) - How do I know if the Powerline Backhaul is working?
Hi,
I have a pack of 3 Deco P9's. I am trying to check if the Powerline Backhaul is working.
All I can see is on a on Deco that under "Signal Source" is a symbol alongside with "PLC". See picture below.
Does this mean that the Powerline Backhaul is working or not?
If not, how do I check if the Powerline Backhaul is working?
Any help very much appreciated.
Kind regards,
Tank

Hi,
You are right and the "PLC" symbol on the signal source is showing the communication between two Decos.
Currently, the two Decos are using poweline backhaul and Wi-Fi backhaul.

Many thanks for coming back to me.
As the the house has stone walls and the Wi-Fi signal between the Deco P9 various a bit form medium signal to yellow low; is it possible to set the Backhaul to only use the Powerline line only?
Kind regards,
Tank.

Sorry, currently, there is no way to turn off the Wi-Fi backhaul at this moment.
But PLC backhaul has a higher priority than Wi-Fi for the communication between Decos;
As for more details, about Deco backhaul, please refer to this link:

Thanks a lot.

@TP-Link_Deco I am looking at purchasing the P9 3 pack. Do you know if I can use it as Poweline and Wifi at the same time? I want to connect the main P9 to my router and powerline, then connect an ethernet cable between a satalite P9 and my sons xBox, and then ethernet between the other satalite P9 and my work PC. I intend the Wi-Fi boost to serve the rest of the household.

I will say i am not an expert on Deco P9's and have only learnt form sorting my P9's out to meet my needs.
My set up is that one P9 is connected to the router, and the other two are set up across the house.
When I look at my P9's in the Deco app it states that each device that they are connected as wirelessly and powerline (PLC).
From my limited knowledge I do not see why what you are proposing would not work.
Hope this helps,
Kind regards,
Tony.

@Tank Since your WiFi signal between the units is quite low, do they keep connected by powerline constantly? In my experience - although I've the latest firmware and PLC connection is live - the unit with a low WiFi signal keeps losing connection with my main Deco..
@k275 Yes, this use case will work.

All I can say is that, I have not had any problems in my house using the internet via my P9's. The house has some stone walls, hence why the WiFi signal is weaker.
Hope thsi helps,
Tony.
