I had the same problem with FTP server not beeing accessible from WAN.

Do you have public IP on WAN without any restrictions? In local network everything is ok?

ok love this router. great deal great options really awesome all around. need a little help please..... this sort of goes in-line with this thread

i am new to ftp never really used it before. i setup a share for the internet and i can access it sometimes its hard to do it through browsers for some reason.

for example if i try to open the ftp link on my galaxy note 2 stock browser it wont work. if i use crome on the phone i can get it to work. on my dekstop computer neither firefox or intexplore will open it. so my question is whats the best way to easily share files over the net with non tech savy people? that is my main idea. but if they cannot click on the link ftp://... ... . . . then it makes it hard for them.

how do i make it EZ to share the files this way?

thank you in advance!

chrome dont work here, it dont show the files, but firefox works fine on computer
i think ftp dont work really on tablets or phones

to share files between computers, you could use, (windows + R), type \\tplinklogin.net and save a shortcut \\tplinklogin.net\volume1
with tablets or smartphones you can use the media server feature to share images, videos and audio

There is a bug in WDR4300 firmware. FTP acces to USB from WAN side is does not work after reboot. (used port: 20021)
If yout Stop and Start the FTP server in "FTP Server Configuration" menu, that will work again.

rgrds.

Problems with external access to FTP-server feature.
2013-08-26 20:38:30
Hello all :)

I had a problem with FTP-server configuration, but finally solved it, so I'll post it here in order to help other if they'll have similar problem.

I have a local network with several computers, and one on them, let's say his local IP is 192.168.0.125, is FTP-Server. All the relevant ports were opened in router accordingly.
So, I could access this FTP-server from outside of my local network by its external IP, and from inside my network by BOTH internal and external IPs.

Then I decided to try an option of using FTP-server through the router's feature, and here the problem began
The problem was that I couldn't get to the server by its external IP. Finally, I managed to get it working.

It turns out, that in order to get to the FTP from inside my local network - I must use ONLY internal IP, (ftp://192.168.0.1:5000 in any browser or client program etc). And the external IP - only for external access.

Some technical data, if somebody need it:

Firmware Version: 3.13.21 Build 120813 Rel.66105n
Hardware Version: WDR4300 v1 00000000

Server Status: Started
Internet Access: Enable
Service Port: 5000
Internet Address: XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX
Public Address: 0.0.0.0

Apparently your WDR4300 is behind another router, maybe your main router/gateway, 192.168.0.3 is a private IP address.
If you want to make it work, use WDR4300 as the Internet gateway , or open ports on your main router.
