Hi, just got the TL-WA850RE. In perfect range, all hooked up, but won't go faster than about 20Mbps. Tested with laptop, mobile and iPad (speedtest.net).

Restarted the device, placed it on several locations, etc. No change. Any ideas what this could be? Will send back soon if no sloution. Thanks for any input! Cheers!

Hi，

Are you able to test the Ethernet speed from the TL-WA850RE as well?

How much speed you could get from the main router if standing next to the extender?

Since the range extender is mainly used to extend the Wi-Fi coverage and improve the wireless stability, the speed from the 850RE would not be good as home router, especially when home router is dual band and 850RE is 2.4ghz only;

@TP-Link Hi, no ethernet available (mobile devices and Macbook Air without LAN port), but even when the extender is placed next to the router DL is stuck at 20Mbps, and drops even to 6Mbps when placed in the next room. I understand the yield is about 25% of the main router's speed, but that would still be 50Mbps (which is sufficient for videoconferencing, whilst 6Mbps is not). Don't know how to troubleshoot next... Thanks.
