Model: Archer A10
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 0.2.0 0.9.1 v0074.0 Build 170504 Rel.68210n

Having a frustrating issue with periodically slow internet connection which I've narrowed down to the connection between my PC and the router when connected to the wireless. It is possible to watch the issue start and stop in real time such as by using ping -t 192.168.1.1 which gives something like:

The does not correlate to any devices being used inside my house, and it persists after rebooting my computer or the router. The signal is otherwise fantastic, and the connection is stable. Is this most likely just caused by a spike in interference outside my house? It's hard to believe something external could have such a powerful influence, are there particularly troublesome devices?

To add a little more information, it is 1:30am right now; as far as I know my neighbors keep a fairly normal schedule so it's hard to believe they are operating an industrial size microwave or anything. If there's any ideas I might have overlooked I'd love to hear them.

Is this device connected to the A10 via 2.4G or 5G? How about the actual speed on it? How about the internet activity, are they normal even with this unstable ping?

Connected via 2.4G. While the signal is good, which is most of the time, I have download speeds around 30Mbps which is what I would expect. Once the ping to the router climbs, everything slows down with downloads capping at about 0.3Mbps, and pings to all websites over 150ms, but it is still somewhat servicable for browsing.

Since making this post, I've verified that it persists even when my PC is the only device connected to the router. The issue begins intermittantly around 6pm, I assume because activity from neighbours increases. I hope you have some ideas I can uses to troubleshoot, I feel as though I'm never going to get to the bottom of it, let alone fix it without investing in wifi extenders or something which I hoped I wouldn't need with the A10.

I see. Is there any device connected to the A10 via the 5GHz? Is the 5GHz the same? Generally, the 5GHz should be less crowded.

As for the 2.4GHz issue, try to run a Wi-Fi analyzer to find a clearer channel and monitor again. If the 2.4GHz is too crowded in your area especially at 6pm, I'm afraid we can do little for it.

@Kevin_Z

I grabbed some software to do a survey and I think I understand the issue. Normally, my router picks a mostly empty channel between the neighbours and reception is great. However there is a local network here called "VodaphoneConnect" which seem to be using a very powerful transmitter. This usually sits in another vacant channel, but every so often, it jumps across into the channel my router is using which degrades my signal a ton (I have better reception with their network than I do the router in my own house).

Unfortunately, the 5g doesn't give a great signal throughout the house. I take it there's nothing I can do besides find a band this other network won't drown me out on?

I see, if that is the case, we have little to do about it. If you know who owns this "VodaphoneConnect", you may check if he can lower down the transmit power on his AP, this may help with the interference.
