@Gary-M5YRG , progress!! I attached the original power supply and during power up I used a paper clip to push the reset option. Although not connected to my BT line it has now booted up and a few LEDs and the power LED are now showing. It seems like it's been fixed.

I've just written to TP_Link UK support so a swap may not be needed. What are your thoughts?

Performing a factory reset has cured the problem. The router has been performing normally for the last 24 hours. Panic over.

@RayP

Hi Ray.

Good news re your router working, I would suggest to make a back up of your current config.

Future reset 2 mins to reload set up etc.

Regards

Gary

@Gary-M5YRG , thanks. I'll have to check how to do that. A reset changed many IP addresses of my kit. Had a problem trying to connect to my Synology NAS until the penny dropped.

@RayP

Hi Ray.

Router Backup done via 'Advanced tab > System tools > Backup & Restore ' - then click on Backup - save file.

Funny I have a couple Synology Nas Units.. I have static IP adressed mine.

Makes them predicable to find them, give them a IP outside of your dhcp range - shame I cant phone you to advise etc.

regards Gary

@Gary-M5YRG Thanks Gary. It’s not a problem with the NAS having a different IP address. I have a batch file running on my XP netbook to link to it so it was just a simple edit to change it. First time in yonks it’s changed.

The netbook runs weather station software so needs continuous internet access. I run a backup of data from it to the NAS twice a day just in case the worst happens. I’ve had it running almost continuously since April 2009 and justbthe one fan change last Feb. Fantastic bit of kit.
