Model: Archer C5400
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.0.4 Build 20170724 Rel. 51389(EU)

Hi,

I'm having a hard time figuring what is going on here.

I have my entire house wired with CAT6 cable.

I have a 400 down / 200 up internet connection with a NAS box running Unraid, my PC and several wifi devices.

When copying files inside my home network (LAN) from the NAS to PC, or vice versa, I can get really good speeds, 80MBytes, maxing the gigabit network here.

When testing internet speed with SpeedTest using a Galaxy S10 smartphone, I can get 400/200 speed.

When testing from the NAS or from my PC, I can get 400 but only 100 upload speed. If I disable NAT BOOST, I can get 120~140, but never 200 like the smartphone does.

The notebooks I have here to test are old and I can't even max the download speed with those so I can't test.

So my guess is that the test using the smartphone is wrong giving a false result

or I have bad cables

or something is wrong with the ethernet ports on the router.

I've seen some old posts in this community which had a beta firmware for this router, sadly all links are dead now.

Maybe those would fix it?

Hi @Fandangos and all,

If you have ever encountered any speed issue with the Archer C5400 V2, please ensure first you are already on the latest firmware version which can be found and downloaded from the TP-Link official website:

https://www.tp-link.com/support/download/archer-c5400/#Firmware

If the speed is still not good as compared with that you can get from the ISP modem directly, log into the web interface of the C5400 and go to Advanced->QoS, manually set the speed to that you get from your ISP, and leave QoS on Standard, then reboot the router and confirm the speed again.

Let the community know if you still have inquiries, thanks a lot~

@Fandangos

Is there any QoS setting on the C5400? Try to disable it, then confirm.

@Kevin_Z

Yes, there is and it's disabled.

Some user that had a similar question compared to mine mentioned that he was only able to get his internet speed correct if QoS was set to exact or more of the actual speed.

I even tried that but nothing.

So I just leave it disabled.

@Kevin_Z

Just wanted to post this.

My internet service provider enforces now the use of it's own router an archer AC1200 and it moved it's speed to 600mb.

Well, with 2 routers it was easy to diagnose the problem that TP Link just gave a middle finger to solve.

Over cat6 shielded cable from the ISP model to AC5400 max internet speed is 400mb/s using the much cheaper AC1200 600mb/s.

AC1200 information:

Firmware Version:3.16.0 0.9.1 v6055.0 Build 201016 Rel.38494n Hardware Version:EC220-G5 v2 00000002

Same goes for the upload as described previously.

It's a shame you guys put out poorly engineered firmware and sadly there's no OpenWRT firmware for the AC5400 to solve it.

So, just having here that it's ridiculous, but maybe that's why TP Link made the V2 right?

There was a firmware issue or hardware issue but it's better to cash in twice than fix it.

Well, congratulations.
