Once I've set up the booster do I have to connect every device to it or leave them on the host network?

What is the model number of the booster?
Did you use the same SSID or a different SSID from the router?
--normally you could might need to connect all the devices to the booster for the first time, later they would automatically jump to the Wi-Fi of the booster.
