I also read in a different post how it's recommended to try the 1.3.6 beta firmware. Well, I did, instead of the "obtaining ip address" error, I instead got: "connected, no internet". This time it happened even on a phone that didn't have a problem before.

Again, after 5-10 minutes the connection came back on it's own. So the issue is NOT resolved.

Does any1 have any other idea? I really like the router (good range/speed and stable once it does connect) but this is a serious problem and I will send it back for a new model from a different brand if not resolved.

Hi, thanks for the details. Can you please confirm if the disconnect issue happens on all the wireless clients, or only happens on the 2.4G devices?

After upgrading the router firmware to the 1.3.6 beta, have you tried to modify the wireless settings on it, such as wireless channel and channel width? What are the devices encountering this "connected, no internet" issue? Can you ping the C6 on it?

Just to confirm, then the internet drops on the devices, what is the status of the LED lights on the C6, are they all green or anyone showing orange? Who is your ISP?

It happens on both 2.4ghz and 5ghz..

The wireless settings are the same as before (manual channel selection channel 6 for 2.4ghz and automatic for 5ghz).

The devices are 3 different mobile phones with Android versions 7-9. When the issue happens I cannot ping C6 from the phones (but I can ping from wired devices).

The led's are green, ISP is the same as I've been using for the past 5 years (Cablenet) and the wired connection is stable.

Yesterday I had the problem happen only one time during the whole day.

On the 1.3.6 beta, can you confirm if you have disabled the Onemesh feature? Just to confirm again, do you mean this C6 is working as an access point? What if you change it into router mode, will it work fine?

@Kevin_Z  Onemesh  is disabled.I'm using it as an Access point. Just now I'm having the problem again (connected, no internet). I don't want to use it as a router.

This thing is going back. I'm not buying tplink next time.

@Kevin_Z ok. as a last attempt, I installed a different 1.3.6 firmware found on the UK site Archer C6(EU)_V2_200902 found here: https://static.tp-link.com/2020/202009/20200922/Archer%20C6(EU)_V2_200902.zip

I will monitor it when I go back home and on the weekend.

Since the different tplink firmware dont work properly, I'm also wondering if it's a good idea to install openwrt with this specific router

While you are using the device in AP mode, which C6 port you're using to connect to your main router - yellow (LAN) or blue one (WAN/Internet) ?

If you're using C6 yellow port then switch to the C6 blue port and see if that makes any difference.

If this was helpful click on the arrow pointing upward to make it blue. If this solves your issue, click the star to make it blue and mark the post as a "Recommended Solution".

@Ivaylo why would connecting it to the wan port do anything useful?

btw, the problem already happened again 1 hour ago even with this firmware version.

I even increased the DHCP lease to 24h on the main isp router, that also didn't help.

I'm curious if openwrt fixes these issues. Anyone thinks I should try?

It won't hurt if you test it.

After all, when in AP mode, this is the recommended cabling for your device.

Keep in mind that installing 3-rd party SW on your device may void your warranty.
