Ethernet not working

Hello:
I just installed a "2 Deco" system". WiFi is working fine. I am trying to run Ethernet from the 2nd Deco (i.e. the one not attached to my home router), and I cannot get it to work. The internet port is lighting up and I have reset the ethernet adapter, though cannot get anything to happen.
Is this supposed to work? What could be the issue?

It should work.
And could you please help me check the IP address and gateway on this laptop?
--if possible, please try to ping the gateway and 8.8.8.8 on the computer to have a look;
By the way, would connect the laptop to anther port of the 2nd Deco, even the 2nd port of the main deco make any difference?
And could you please provide me a detailed picture of your network structure?
