Mixing AV2000 and AV1300

Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

I already have 4 nodes using WPA9610KIT and PA9020PKIT which is working great. They are all AV2000.

I need to extend to further parts of the house and have purchased WPA8631PKIT (this is AV1300) but cannot make it pair with any of the existing nodes.

Any time I try to pair additional nodes,  the Powerline LED on all the AV2000 nodes turns red.

I spent hours trying various scenarios:

  • With all nodes plugged in.
  • Attempting to pair just 2 nodes (one AV2000 and one AV1300) - the remaining nodes not even plugged in.
  • Resetting the WiFi nodes to factory settings (using the reset pin hole)
  • Resetting the non-WiFi nodes by holding the pair switch for 15 seconds.

Every time the nodes have been plugged directly into wall sockets next to each other.

Every time I get the same result - the AV2000 node(s) turns its Powerline LED(s) to red.

I am currently in the position that the system is back to how it was before with the 4 AV2000 nodes working and the AV1300 back in the box from amazon.

Is there something else I can try ?

@runnymede

Try pairing the devices right next to eachother in the same room (short runs) before moving them, i have found that fixes it first.

OR

Install the TP PLC app and manually set the name on the powerline connection, it usually defaults to something like   TPHomeAV    change it to WHATEVER on each plug individually using the app and these should start talking, you will likely need to configure one at a time.  Cable in  >  open app  >  see plug  >  change powerline name  >   save and disconnect ... next plug repeat

Done that a few times to fix random issues, also a bit safer than the default one!

@Philbert

Thanks for your suggestion, but no joy after hours of trying your suggestions over the weekend.

Even with just one AV2000 and one AV1300 plugged into wall sockets next to each other, the "Powerline LED" on the AV2000 turns red immediately after the AV1300 is switched on and remains red whatever I do.

@runnymede Try adding the AV1200 ("1300" is a marketing ploy) adapter by entering its device ID code in tpPLC utility _before_ you plug it in.

The threshold for red or green on the PLC LED is about connection speed. Maybe the AV2000 adapters have a high threshold for "good" speed. Verify the resulting speed - after a while, not right in the beginning - and if it's good enough for you, just ignore the red light.
