Hey

 

I want to buy a pack of X60's to have a WiFi 6 network in my home

 

I already have a WiFi 5 mesh network using some E4s.

 

I need Ethernet ports in my shed so my plan is to use one of the E4 routers in the shed as part of the X60 network and have the 3 X60s in my house 

 

i can't find out what happens in this scenario. Does the WiFi 6 network still work as a WiFi 6 network unless a device happens to attach to the E4 router then it will work over WiFi 5?

 

I guess I'm trying to work out it having a mix of WiFi 5 and 6 satalites on the same network is an issue or not?


I need Ethernet ports in the shed so using an old e4 is a cheap way to do it

Hi, if you haven’t purchased the E4 and the whole house is under the same electric meter, maybe powerline adapter would be much better, such as TL-PA8030P KIT:

TP-Link states that you can use any type of Deco model while building your mesh network.

'All TP-Link Deco models work together. Just choose one as a main Deco (follow the priority order when choosing the main Deco: Deco M9 Plus/Deco P7 > Deco P9 > Deco M5 > Deco M4R > Deco E4R). Then follow the Deco app instructions to set it up. After configuring the main Deco, add other Decos one by one onto the mesh network via your Deco app.' - source.

So adding Wi-Fi 6 shouldn't be a problem, moreover Wi-Fi 6 is backward compatible to Wi-Fi 5.

thanks so much for the reply

 

so if I create a WiFi 6 network using 3 X60s and I have 1 E4 on the network so I can use the Ethernet Ports on it, when WiFi 6 devices are on the X60 they will work at full speed? They will just drop down to WiFi 5 if they ever attach to the E4?

@Ivaylo ideally I would disable the WiFi on the E4 so only The hard wire Ethernet ports would work on this but I don't think that's possible
