Deco P9 Keep Disconnect (PLC problem)
Deco P9 Keep Disconnect (PLC problem)
Hi.
I've a problem with the connection; it was OK previously but for couple of weeks the stability seems very bad with the satellite units
I have 3 units of P9 V1.
Already upgraded to the latest firmware..
Seems the PLC is not working well ; it keeps disconnected (if view from the status you can sometimes see PLC but sometimes dont)
Whats the solution to this?

Hi,
Would the satellite Deco turn red when the connection lost?
Did both of the satellite Deco have the same issue?
If possible, please try to update the following firmware to check:
https://static.tp-link.com/beta/2021/202101/20210118/Deco_P9_1.1.3_20210115_debug.zip
by the way, could you please draw a simple picture of the network topology/ floor map about the location and distance between Deco units;
Thank you very much and wait for your reply.

@TP-Link Thanks for replying
The original issue is that only 1 of the satellite is disconnecting every 5 mins or so ( I have 3 units ) and yes it will turn red and then after a min or so re-established the connection.. and this issue keeps repeating every 5 mins or so.. and the PLC doesn't seem to be stable; sometimes it has; sometimes it doesn't.. this may what cause the unit to keep disconnecting (as the wifi backhaul not sufficient to sustain)
I have updated all the 3 Deco's P9 V1 with the latest beta firmware you have shared. An initial review found that the PLC connection is now much stable; i.e every time I log in to see the PLC status; it is always there; unlike previously as mentioned; most of the time the PLC connection is not there
And my house wiring is a single phase ; hence no issue with PLC backhaul (in theory)
I will monitor another couple days to see whether the issue is truly resolved or not
Please note that I didnt have the issue (same configuration) when initially use this P9 .. cant recall what what the firmware.. but only recently I found this problem.. hopefully this is purely caused by firmware issue and not faulty hardware
One thing I noticed ; with the problematic P9 unit, the whole network seems sluggish and the admin page become unresponsive when try to login... If i switch it off the loading of the admin page is smooth

@Izudeen I had the same problems as you experienced, running the same hard- and software:
Model: Deco P9
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.1.3 Build 20201228 Rel. 55057
Decided to update all the 3 Deco's P9 V1 with the latest beta firmware as provided this afternoon and seems stable so far.
I will also monitor for the next few days!

Same here! Roaming and stability works fine, seems like the PLC is much more stable with this software version :)

@DanishS not recommended..it may brick your device. I would suggest you open a new thread and post your configuration and as much detail as possible.. firmware version .. symptoms etc

@Izudeen I applied the firmware mentioned in this thread but I still do not see the PLC connection to my P9 in the garage. I see PLC to the P9 in the basement, but not garage. This DID show PLC at one point to the garage recently, maybe a week or so ago when I last looked, but now I can't get it to show PLC again for the life of me. It gets OK WiFi signal, but I like having the PLC backbone just to ensure my devices in the garage are online.

@jstump2490 have you ever seen PLC connection to this garage before?
Note if your house is 3 phase wiring you may not see PLC connection at all as it runs on different electrical wiring than your main router.
The issue I had earlier was IT WAS WORKING fine until the auto-update firmware broke my PLC.. it wasn't that I couldn't get PLC working at the said location
Based on ur reply I can assume that you never get PLC working at all in your garage.. its totally different issue than mine

@Izudeen yes, I've seen it working in the garage before. As recent as maybe a couple weeks ago. I have not seen it in the last couple weeks because I don't look all the time, but it has worked.
edit: well, I just looked and it shows PLC now 😑 so maybe I just needed to give it a few minutes after applying the beta firmware for it to show.
