Model: Deco P9
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

I recently purchased and installed a TP Link Deco P9 Mesh WiFi System (three units).  After a little tinkering, I managed to connect all of my devices and appliances bar my ProVision Wireless HD Sender Kit which just keeps dropping out.  I initially thought reconfiguring the 5GHz channel on the ProVision Sender device would resolve the problem and after trying a number of channels, it did start working again consistantly on Channel 30.  However, this morning it worked for about 30 minutes and then started dropping out again.

I'm not brilliant with tech, but can usually work my way around stuff with Google/YouTube assistance, but this is way out of my league.

Is anyone able to explain why the Sender/Receiver kit is displaying these symptoms, when other devices aren't, and more importantly if there is anything I can do to stop it?  It does appear to be low WiFi signal and/or WiFi interference.

@SandyGW2206

Hi, thanks for your feedback.

For your case, could you please help me check the following information so that I could forward your case to the senior engineers:

  1. Could you please provide a picture of the floor map about the location of the Deco units as well as the HDMI kit?
  2. It is the link between sender and receiver that would drop out, right?
  3. Then please refer to the following suggestion to have a look:

---turn off the Mesh technology for the HDMI kit on the Deco APP as well as fast roaming and beamforming on the APP;

---enable a guest Wi-Fi of 5ghz only with a different SSID for HDMI kit;

---download the Wi-Fi analyzer and check what is the current wireless channel of the Deco and modify the HDMI kit to the same channel;

Thank you very much and wait for your reply.

@TP-Link

Hi

Please find pictures of the ground and upper floors of my property, marked with locations of Deco Units (main unit green circle, other units amber and blue circles) and HDMI Sender (green rectangle) and Receiver (amber rectangle).

You are correct that it is the link between sender and receiver that drops out.  This does appear to be intermittent i.e. it sometimes works almost seamlessless, and sometimes almost doesn't work at all.

I have tried to follow your advice, but can't see how to turn off the Mesh technology for the HDMI kit on the Deco APP as well as fast roaming and beamforming on the APP?

I have enabled a guest Wi-Fi of 5ghz only, with a different SSID, but can't see how to make sure the HDMI kit is connecting to that and not the main Wi-Fi?

I have used the Wi-Fi analyzer to check what the current wireless channel of the Deco is, and modified the HDMI kit to the same channel, which does improve the issue, but as the channel keeps changing on the Deco this is not a convenient option.  To change the channel of the HDMI kit I have to download the config file to a USB stick, edit it, then upload it to the HDMI unit, which is not quick.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Sandra

@SandyGW2206

Hi, please refer to the attached picture to turn off the Mesh Technology for the HDMI kit and it would also display which wireless network it is connected to;

As for fast roaming, it is under More>Advanced>fast roaming;

By the way, before you use the Deco P9, is there any issue with the HDMI kit?

Thank you very much.
