Hi guys

I'm looking at purchasing one of the three models here and I wanted to hear your thoughts and opinions before purchasing.

I want the fastest WiFi I can get with still having good coverage. I like the speeds of the Archer C5400X, however I worried that I may have deadspots.

I live in a 3200sq ft house with lots of plaster and pocket doors with glass and I have found my Shaw Advanced Gateway which is the same as Xfinitys older Advanced gateway (grey model XB6) leaves me with deadspots in the corners of my house.

So which of the three poducts M9 or M5 or C5400X would you recommend?

I am also wondering if you think the M9 plus 2 pod will cover enough of the house vs. the M5 3-pod pack.

In summary I want as fast as possible while having good coverage and not loosing speed due to poor coverage.

I forgot to mention that I have a 300mbps connection and would like to be able to get that speed in all corners of the house.

Thanks guys!

Hi,

Normally, a three-pack M5 kit could cover an area of up to 5500 square feet, and a twin-pack Deco M9 plus could cover 4,500 square feet.

So M5 kit would be a little bit more;

For the M9 plus, it has 2.4ghz and 5ghz-1 and 5ghz-2 for the wireless backhaul within the Mesh Deco so that the speed loss between the Mesh would be lower than M5(only has 2.4ghz and 5ghz);

Since your house is around 3200sq ft, Deco M9 plus would be a little better.

And if the Wi-Fi coverage is not good enough, we could add one more M9 to expand the wireless coverage;

Thank you very much.

Based on my personal experience of using Deco M5 and M9 in my house, I would not recommend you to buy Deco M5. Nothing wrong with that Deco model, and I have one in my household, but Deco M5 will have very hard time meeting your high expectations, for the house you have.

I recommend M9 Plus, and you should start with 3-pack if you want superior coverage in your house. Be skeptical of marketing specs for sq. ft. coverage. My house is smaller than yours, yet 2-pack M9 Plus was not enough for 5GHz coverage on each of two floors and in finished basement.

It is possible that even 3-pack won't be enough for the house of your size if you want "300mbps ... in all corners of the house," so be mentally prepared to either budget for more or to somewhat reduce your expectations.

Note that this applies to any mesh system, not just Deco: they all tend to be overly optimistic about coverage and number of units one may need.

As I am typing this, right now, Deco M9Plus 3-pack is on sale at Amazon Canada, with 18% off. If you are ready to try Deco mesh system at your house, you should buy now - these deals usually don't last long.

@Alex

Thanks for the info and sharing your experience Alexandre.

Do you happen to have a link to the sale?

I've checked amazon.ca quite a few times and I haven't seen any 18% off sales on the M9.

Cheers

Yay!

Thanks so much Alexandre for the quick reply.

You are better at using the internet than I am. :P

I was having a hard time finding the 3-pack.
