Hi,

This is more of a pre-sale query. I am about to buy Archer AX10 (Ax1500) WiFi 6 router.

I am first of all a bit confused with terms like ax, wifi 6 and so on.

As of now I do not have any WiFi 6 devices so I will be setting it up in mixed mode with ac option.

So in theory when it says 1200 Mbps on 5Ghz band, does it mean it's also applicable to ac mode?

Or will speed get degraded when on ac rather than ax at same disatnce?

Specs say

AX1500
5 GHz: 1201 Mbps (802.11ax)  <-- but here it does not say anything about AC
2.4 GHz: 300 Mbps (802.11n)

I am asking in theory. I know as you go away from router, speed eventually will plummet to some extent.

Thanks.

@ramki_87

You will get this 1201 speed when your Wi-Fi adapter also supports 802.11AX.

If the Wi-Fi adapter is an 802.11ac one, then it can negotiate at a maximum 866Mbps speed when it supports dual-stream (2×2).
