Any updates on final release of mesh firmware? Does the firmware supports mesh when in AP mode?

Hi, the new official firmware is available now, you can check for the updates on the router web GUI or Tether app. BTW, we have updated the OP, you may wait one day or two if it is now available for your device yet.

Be sure that the router only support Onemesh when it is working in Router mode, you cannot use it as a Onemesh router if it is in AP mode, check this article for more details:

Thanks Kevin!  Everything seems stable....no issues.  However I am noticing a big difference in upload speeds when testing.  I have been getting results of approx. 600-800mbps until this release.  Now I'm getting approx 150mbps.  Have GB service.

@Kevin_Z

It's now been 36 or so hours since I loaded the official OneMesh firmware; for clarity, I'll add that I set the router up from scratch and then set up the OneMesh config from scratch (two RE550 range extenders and one RE505X range extender).

As of today, I have the following negative observations to report:

1) The built-in SpeedTest is as bad as it was. Sad, as I was hoping for some improvement.

2) The client list is unreliable, with many devices being listed as "unknown" or disappearing/reappearing, even when not roaming between the router and nodes. Worse still, when I customise device names, they do not necessarily stay customised - sometimes they do, sometimes they don't.

3) Tether keeps on disconnecting from the RE505X in OneMesh, however the connection to both RE550s is uniformly excellent. Since all three range extenders are equidistant from the router, I'm more or less certain that the overall weak range of the RE505X is to blame here.

4) The HomeCare Antivirus now reports hardly anything in its history. I sincerely hope that this is just the result of some optimisation, and not a loss of functionality.

5) Overall, actual speeds are three times lower in OneMesh. With this I can live, as I wasn't expecting them to equal speeds when connected directly to the AX11000.

I'll keep on monitoring and see how things develop, however I must say that I continue to be underwhelmed by OneMesh. Or perhaps I was simply expecting too much?

On the bright side, my OneMesh does function stably - albeit with AC range extenders, which is somewhat comical - and I can't really fault the AX11000. As I've written before, it is the best router that I've ever had.

Hello @cdigi25

I understand you do not have any QoS stuff switched on? If you do, I would recommend switching it off.

I am having trouble maintaining a VPN with the router newest firmware. You can see the post here https://community.tp-link.com/us/home/forum/topic/267898?page=1

It's crazy and making it very hard to work.

I do have an AX11000 with the latest firmware. Brought RE605X from Amazon to address a dead spot in my home. Updated RE605X firmware too. However, there is no seamless transition when I visit the dead spot except the fact that I disable WiFi connection and re-connect to get it working. Tried with Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra & Samsung Galaxy S8. Both gave same results. I will probably return RE605X as it isn't providing any seamless transition as suggested in Spec.

@agfa

Hi, may I confirm where is the RE605X, is it in the middle between the AX11000 and the dead spot? When you are in the dead spot, how about the wireless signal, is the phone still connecting to the AX11000? You can try to relocate the RE605X, ensure it is in the proper location as per the network map.

Are there any other phones that you can do a comparison, such as an iPhone?

@Jay9055

Are you on 2.4Ghz by chance? After updating to "official" SW I constantly have drops on 2.4Ghz.
