Model: Archer A10
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.1.6 Build 20210108 Rel. 60533(4555)

Hello,

I have a problem with the WIFI speed on 5Ghz.

I have 1 Gb speed internet. The equipment from the Internet Provider is set as bridge and I am using the Tp-link for PPOE connection and also wireless.

After first setting the 5Ghz connection on the router, the speed tests starts at 600MB and rapidly decreases to <100 Mb until test finishes. On next speed tests, I get only 50Mbs.  On 2.5 GHz, on channel 13 I get 200 Mbs.

I have no other settings configured (QOS, parental control)

I see only one other wifi network from my neighbors also using the 5Ghz so interference should not be such a problem I guess. It seems more a hardware/software issue for the since the connection first works but it it not maintainable by the router.

Hopefully you can help or I need to return it.

Thank you!

Nothing worked. I returned it and got the tplink OEM (M*) which worked perfectly without any intervention from my side.

@Tania1111

Just to confirm, what is the model number of the router, Archer AX10 or AX1500? You can find it on the bottom sticker.

Please check this article to ensure the QoS settings on the router is correctly disabled, or reset the router to factory defaults then reconfigure it from scratch, connect the device  to the 5G network again to confirm if the speed is normal.

What is the device you are testing the speed, a phone or laptop? Please check the link speed on it when it connects to the 5G network if the speed is still abnormal, show us the screenshots, thanks.

BTW, what is the distance between the device and the router? What if you move closer? How about other devices in the network, such as laptops?

You can also try to modify the wireless settings on the router, such as 5G wireless channel, channel width to 80MHz, security to WPA2-PSK/AES, then reboot the router and reconnect.
