Model: Deco M5
Hardware Version: V3
Firmware Version: Latest

Hi ,

I got connected to fiber cable 1gigabit .

Use the M5 as router . fiber cable to fc/rj45 cable converter to main Deco.

The rj45 cable to deco  goes to 850mbit test download sometimes 900+ .

The wifi 5ghz and 2.4 cant reach more than 150mbit.

Tried everything.

What can be the reason for this low speed via wifi only?

@Eladeb

Could be many reasons, really. Wireless interference, how Deco mesh is set up, how speed tests are run, what type of device and what kind of WiFi network card are used to run speed tests.

The best I ever got with my Deco M5 was 460Mbps, with average results around 350Mbps.

This is what I have:

Gigabit Internet

Deco mesh runs in Access Point mode

Deco Main Network has 2.4GHz disabled, only 5GHz enabled

Very low interference from neighbouring WiFi networks

Using speedtest app on Android smartphone connected to Deco Main Network

Manually choosing in speedtest app test server that is on my ISP network

Locating smartphone in direct line of sight from Deco M5, on the same level as Deco, about 2 meters (6 feet) from it

Almost zero home network traffic when running speedtest and zero other traffic through Deco M5 smartphone is connected to

Also, on a side note: it might be something with my smartphone, but I never got better than 100Mbps on it when connected to Deco 2.4GHz WiFi. Not a problem for me, as I have really good 5GHz WiFi coverage from Deco mesh in my house, so I just disabled 2.4GHz.

@Alexandre.

Hi Alex ,

My M5 serving as router so i wonder if that the reason on low wifi bandwidth .

i gusse that the mem/cpu realy forcing the unit down.

im using 2.4 and 5 tried to enable only 5 without success  .

im using for testing S21 ULTRA  and ASUS laptop with wifi 6 so no boundaries of bandwidth there.

my converge are perfect around the house.

@Eladeb

Hi,

When you tried to enable the 5ghz only, the wireless speed had no improvement at all, right?

Could you please help me check the link speed on the  ASUS laptop when it is connected to the main Deco(testing the speed next to the main Deco would be highly appreciated.)?

Then please help me save some detailed information on the  ASUS laptop:

  1. The speed test result;
  2. The link speed on the Asus laptop;
  3. The network adapter info on the laptop:

--- You may obtain the information of your PC’s network adapter from here: (For Windows PC only)

Press WIN+R on the keyboard, type in “cmd” and enter, you will see a small black window.

In the small black window, type in “ipconfig /all” and press enter, the information of your network adapters will be printed.

Please copy the whole content of this window while contacting us, this information would be more helpful when troubleshooting this issue.

Later, we would like to forward your case to the senior engineers for further assistance;

Thank you very much.
