Model: Archer VR600
Hardware Version: V3
Firmware Version: 1.3.0 0.9.1

Hi,

I'm trying to set up my Archer VR600 to repeat/extend my existing wifi. I'd like to do this using just wifi, so no cable between the two devices.

Searching online I found multiple guides that suggest to enable WDS for this and there's even a resource from tp-link about this:

https://www.tp-link.com/uk/support/faq/2048/

This suggests, it's possible with the VR600, but only on 2.4 GHz. However, going to the corresponding section in the settings does not show a WDS setting at all.

Does that mean it's not possible after all?

Is there anything else I can try to get this working?

Cheers,

Sebastian

@BazRaubach

The guide you mentioned is for VR600 v2 which doesn't support OneMesh feature.

Your device is HW v3 which supports OneMesh and doesn't have the WDS implemented.

The only way to utilize this device to repeat/extend your existing wifi is to use it in wireless router mode configured like an AP which involves cabling.

The positive thing is that in AP mode (using an ethernet cable) the connection between your main router and VR600 will be most reliable.

Other way to use the VR600 is as a main wireless router and  add OneMesh compatible range extenders.

That's a shame. Thanks for letting me know. I'll try setting it up as an AP then and will see if I can run a cable between them
