I presume the DNS seen in command prompt are the ISP DNS, right ?

What's the device with IP address 192.168.1.1 ?

Have you browsed into Japanese router IP network to see if any advanced settings concerning DNS ? I see an Advanced settings menu on the top right, what's in there ?

If this was helpful click once on the arrow pointing upward. If this solves your issue, click once the star to mark it as a "Recommended Solution".

I'm sorry, it was the wrong screen shot.
It should be as follows.

The IP address 192.168.1.1 is the address of the main router.

There is no DHCP setting in the advanced settings of the main router.

OK. So 192.168.1.2 should be the AX20, right ?

As I can see from the Windows client the DNS IP address which it receives is 192.168.1.2 which is AX20 IP address.

You have Internet connectivity in this scenario right ?

So on that base:

I would assume that the DNS IP addresses that you've entered in AX20 (8.8.8.8 and 1.1.1.1) are in effect (since no other DHCP server, except AX20 on your network) and there's no DNS settings to be received from elsewhere but AX20.

Maybe the problem is just that the DNS IP address fields are displayed as empty in the AX20 WebGUI.

Yes, 192.168.1.2 is the address of AX20.
In this scenario,I can ping by IP address, but not domain name.Name resolution is not possible.

I don't think it's a WebGUI issue. I think it's a bug that doesn't write DNS to flash memory.

Because, the result of ipconfig before rebooting is below.

Given the last screenshot (before rebooting AX20) and name resolution issue you mentioned, I would assume the same.

If your cable router can be configured in bridge mode and AX20 as main router, I believe this can be mitigated, moreover AX20 is obviously a better fit for a main router.

As for the DNS issue in AP mode, I believe you should contact support to report this.

Thank you for your suggestion.
The main router is integrated with the CATV modem and does not have a bridge mode, so the AX20 cannot be the main router.
I have reported to Japanese support, but there is no reply.

Hi, may I confirm why you disabled the DHCP server on the CATV modem router? What if you leave it on, and disable the DHCP server on the AX20, will the AX20 work properly in AP mode?

@Kevin_Z

This is because the DHCP of the router of the CATV modem cannot change from the DNS assigned by the provider.
My provider's DNS is slow and I want to change it.
Turning on DHCP on the main router and turning off DCHP on the AX20 works fine in AP mode.

n previous firmware versions, DHCP on the AX20 worked fine even in AP mode, but in the latest version, a reboot clears the DNS.

Do you also encounter the same issue on your Archer AX10? Can we have the firmware version of it?

What is the reason that you want to configure the static DNS server on the AX10 when it is working in AP mode?
