I have bought the wifi extender to extend the wifi range to first floor of my home. The blue LED on the device shows full range but when comes to the speed its less than 500 kbps. The home internet speed is 100 Mbps. Even if I bring the device to the same floor where the router is placed the speed is same. This defeats the purpose of buying Extender. Have tried reseting the extender, changing the SSID etc.

Here is a newer firmware for TL-WA850RE, make sure RE firmware is up to date and see if speed improves or not:

As range extender needs to receive data from the router and then forward it to the connected clients and speed will decrease during the transmission, we use it more to increase the stability in Wi-Fi dead spots rather than boost Wi-Fi Speed and the speed RE received from router is very important for RE's speed,

As TL-WA850RE only supports 2.4Ghz, it is recommend to test the 2.4Ghz Wi-Fi speed from Router at  the Same Location of RE. 

May I have  the speediest results on router & RE and also the wifi link speed on your device (computer or mobile device) when they connected to router and RE?
