Model: Archer VR600
Hardware Version: V3
Firmware Version: 1.3.0 0.9.1 v009e.0 Build 201122 Rel.66972n

Hi All,

My setup is:

Gateway: 192.168.1.1 (VR600)

Firewall on 192.168.1.3, additional interface: 192.168.200.1

Web server running on 192.168.200.2

The VR600 is configured with a static route to direct traffic to 192.168.1.3 intended for 192.168.200.0/24

I have tried to set up a port forward from the ppoe interface port 443 to 192.168.200.2:443 and I have a popup stating: "VR600 - Error code: 4937 The IP address is not on the same subnet with LAN IP address."

Is there any way the VR600 can be configured to operate in the manner I want?

Thanks,

Bog

Since VR600 doesn't know about the 192.168.200.0/24 network hence the error message.

A second NAT should be introduced by the firewall connected after VR600.

The way that this has to be configured should be:

1) port forward from VR600 PPPoE:443 to FW 192.168.1.3:443 (VR600 knows about 192.168.1.0/24 network)

2) port forward from FW 192.168.1.3:443 to Web server 192.168.200.2:443 (FW knows about 192.168.1.0/24 and 192.168.200.0/24 networks)

Hi @terzyski As far as I'm aware, the VR600 is configured with a suitable static route and as such, it is aware of the appropriate route to the 192.168.200.0/24 subnet and therefore the web server.

Regardless of the static route you've configured on VR600, when you create a virtual server the destination IP address (Internal IP) is expected to be within the VR600 LAN subnet.

What's your firewall device ? Is 192.168.1.3 on its WAN and 192.168.200.1 on its LAN interface ?

@terziyski The firewall is a dedicated Linux system. I'm capable of setting up the NAT but I'd hoped the VR600 would be able to cope with a more complex setup, given that it was capable of accepting static routes. I'm just a bit cross with myself for not identifying this as a potential issue before I settled on the VR600. It's not insurmountable, just not my preferred result. Thanks for your input, Bog

I understand your point, but you should have in mind that these are home grade devices which don't have the full potential of a business grade router or firewall.
