Model: RE650
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.0.9 Build 20201112 Rel. 66232(6985)

Hello,

I've RE450 V2.0 and now bought a RE650 V1.0 (didn't find v2.0) to get more coverage.

I've updated it to the latest firmware the replaced the RE450 with it.

Awfully, the RE650 has dropouts and the connection is very unstable.

RE450 back on stage and everything rocks.

Can you please provide me a beta firmware for the RE650?

It was bought in Israel, EU version, 2021 manu. year.
Official firmware: 1.0.9 Build 20201112 Rel. 66232(6985)

Thanks

@MrM2 Hello,

Currently RE650 V1 does not have beta for unstable, can you help confirm some details to locate the issue:

May I know the model of your router and how about the Wi-Fi LED on RE when issue occurs?

> Try to turn off Advanced WiFi settings router like : Band Steering or Smart Connect; WiFi optimizing etc.

> If the WiFi Led(s) goes off when issue occurs, please locate RE closer to router and change a different WiFi channel of 2.4Ghz / 5Ghz on router and see if that helps with the issue.

> If RE LEDs look normal when issue happen, please log in to Range extender's web page , turn on RE's DHCP and set up a static IP address for RE as FAQ below and see if that help with unstable issue:  https://www.tp-link.com/support/faq/2965/

Also make sure you have a stable Wi-Fi connection from the main router at RE's location.

If the issue persist, may I know does the issue particularly happens on RE's 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz, and how about your network topology, thank you.

I've done this:

VR600 Extended via 5GHz to RE650, and the later transmit 2.4GHz to the devices.

It works better, yet I've pretty sure an update is required here, even for the VR600 V2 which runs on beta firmware.

Hello@JohanNL , we have a troubleshooting guide for RE unstable issue, please give it a try:

[Troubleshooting] Range Extender Keeps Losing Connection https://community.tp-link.com/en/home/forum/topic/272398

It is suggested to create a new thread with case details from here, and we would like to look into the issue further, like 'How about the Leds status on RE, which band it drops out,  the frequency issue happens and how the connection recovers?' Thank you very much!
