Model: Archer A6
Hardware Version: V3
Firmware Version: 1.0.10 Build 20210513 rel.63256(5553)

I am a Network Engineer for an ISP in New Zealand,

Trying to use the Archer A6 as a PPPoE client across our nation's fibre network.
When using PPPoE as WAN type we have a speed issue where under speedtest it will initially hit the limit of the connection and then very rapidly drop down to almost 0
However, when we use Static as WAN type and use the exact same IP config that is handed out by the PPPoE server, we have no speed issue.
This is not an ideal solution, it is a workaround in the meantime but not a permanent fix.

@PeteEvoWireless

Have you tried to tweak the MTU Size (lower it down) when configured with PPPoE connection ? If you haven't try that and see if any difference.

If this was helpful click once on the arrow pointing upward. If this solves your issue, click once the star to mark it as a "Recommended Solution".

@terziyski

Yes we have tried a variety of MTU Sizings with no improvement.
The odd thing is that we can use an Archer C60 with no problem(these are now End of life)

@PeteEvoWireless

Can we confirm who is your ISP, please? PPPoE is the required connection type provided by them, right?

What if you connect a computer directly to the ISP provided modem, and dial up on the computer, will it access the internet fine?
