  @vk3hjq
Hi, I am looking at adding a external antenna to my MR600 v2. I am specifically looking at Cisco Meraki antennas, MA-ANT-DUAL-C1, since I am able to get them heavily discounted. The plan is to use one of the antennas from the package, MA-ANT-C1-B3. I am wondering if they would work with the MR600?

1. The antenna uses RP-SMA, but with a RP-SMA - SMA adapter that should be ok right?
2. Does it matter that the antenna cover a broader frequency range than the MR600?

All help is much appreciated!

The only problem is this antenna's Polarisation is Vert/Horz and not + - 45Deg

1. Yes

2. No

Edited:

Just found the specs on it, it looks like it is + - 45 Deg after all.

I suppose you could try 1 & see.

  @vk3hjq Thank you for writing this detailed document on LPDA, MR600, and general radio antennae literature.
I read the whole post and the comments thoroughly. I created a PDF for studying later.

  @vk3hjq mate does 10meters LMR400 is good? also since there is no N-male to SMA-male I used this instead N-female to SMA-Male lead patch.

  @vk3hjq should I also follow this for 700-2700mhz x2 15dbi antenna?

  @Vintage-MR600

Keep the coax runs as short as possible, & Yes, use this patch lead or you can use adaptors, either way is fine.

adaptor

This is the Frequency required in Australia, so use the the Frequency required in your country, & yes x 2 @ 15dBi is OK.

  @vk3hjq I still dont get it the spacing between the two LPDA  horizontal in a slant angle -45 +45 degree. In your post there is 42cm 85cm and more. im consfused which one to follow.

Also what is the recommended lenght of LMR400 Cable to Router?

  @Vintage-MR600

It depends on the lowest Frequency used, here is the Formula to work it out.

As for the length of the coax, the shorter the better. (more cable = more loss)
