Mate after installing the antenna, should I put Auto Select for band in order to acheive MIMO? or should I locked it? e.i band locked to 3 and the output in modem dashboard shown a single 3 (Band 3) sometimes it shows double 3 (Band: 3,3) how to tell if my modem performing MIMO? also it is really hard to find if the tower support MIMO.  :(

  @Vintage-MR600

auto

4G+

no 4G+

You should be able to Download a phone App to see all the tower/s in your area.

  @vk3hjq Thanks for the detailed write up really helped me tweak my setup.

However I was looking online and found that using 2 LPDA antenna's and a single LMR 400 wire also gave decent results.

  • Provided we used a simple Y type connector to connect the 2 antenna's to a single wire.
  • And we also used a Y type connector to split the connection from the LMR400 and connect to the main and aux cable on the router.

I saw your comment on not using a Y type splitter ever and hence wanted your thoughts on the same.

I am trying to prevent having an additional LMR 400 wire in my existing setup. Hence looking for a workaround where I might get significant gain in performance using 2 antenna's and a single LMR 400 wire.

Thanks in Advance.

  @Knight2k

splitter NO

1 ant

You need 2 antennas for MIMO otherwise with 1 antenna you get MISO/SISO

P.S. The ONLY way I could think of how you would do this by using a Phasing Harness at the antennas & a splitter at the router, cheaper to do 2 coax runs I would suspect, otherwise everyone would be doing it that way.

  @vk3hjq mate my LPDA doesn't have arrow for alignment guide but there's 2 holes. meaning the 2 holes should be facing down?

  @Vintage-MR600

Yes the holes should be facing down to allow any water/moisture to run out.

I would also seal all the way around the back cover & the coax lead with a waterproof sealer (Silicone Sealant)

P.S. Also Seal all the Coax cable connector joints with Self Amalgamating Tape to keep the water out of the coax.

  @vk3hjq hey mate, I have done setting up my outdoor antenna at 85.6cm distance in a slant angle. -45 +45, but it keeps going back to SIMO connection, it shows 4G+ a few minutes then it will disapper for long time, I don't know whats happening.

4G+ WILL ONLY LAST ABOUT 10 TO 30 MINS

THIS IS MY CONNECTION MOST OF THE TIME (SIMO I THINK)

Sometimes it will change to other band since my connection is set on Auto Mode, but not 4G+
